Freedom Is NOT Free ~ Poem by J.L. Restemayer
For as long as I have lived
I have been free
And have lived great liberties
But freedom really isn't free
There are men and women who fight for me.
I only wish they new how proud I am
To live in a free country under Uncle Sam
But no freedom really isn't free
Men and women fight for me.
The soldiers will it give it there all
Unfortunately some will fall
You never see a soldier stall
Though some will get the final call
No freedom isn't really free
Men and women fight for me.
We have the freedom of speech
But in the schools it's wrong to teach
About Gods love for you and me
And that we will live for eternity
No freedom really isn't free
Men and women fight for me.
But mothers are crying
Because their children are dying
Husbands wives daughters sons
Die to protect their loved ones
No freedom really isn't free
Men and women fight for me.
They are dying to save
Those freedoms in which we live
Freedom of want, fear, speech and worship
No freedom really isn't free
Men and women fight for me.
So when we say goodbye to ones that we hold dear
Remember the last words they want to hear
Are I LOVE YOU DEAR
No freedom really isn't free
men and women fight for me.
So when you see that flag go bye
Remember those who had to die
And remember freedom really isn't free
men and women fight for me.
